Water Cooled Chiller Rental in UAE

A water-cooled chiller rejects heat into a condenser water loop rather than into the air, with a cooling tower doing the final heat rejection. That extra step makes it significantly more efficient than an air-cooled machine and lets it deliver much higher capacity from a smaller footprint. It’s the right choice when the load is large, the hire is long, and the site can supply condenser water and space for a tower.

What Makes This Equipment Different?

Efficiency and capacity per square metre.

A water-cooled chiller condenses against water temperature rather than outside air temperature, and water temperature tracks the wet-bulb, which is lower than the dry-bulb. That’s why water-cooled machines run at roughly 0.55 to 0.85 kW per ton against roughly 1.2 to 1.5 kW per ton for air-cooled plants. Over a long hire at high load, that difference shows up directly on the electricity bill.

Capacity is the other difference. Packaged air-cooled chillers are typically manufactured up to around 500 TR, while packaged water-cooled chillers are manufactured up to around 4,000 TR. Large duties can be met with fewer machines and less space.

The cost is complexity. A water-cooled installation needs a cooling tower, condenser water pumps, make-up water and water treatment to control scale and biological growth. That’s more equipment, more space and a longer install. It’s the right answer for large, long jobs and the wrong one for a fast temporary fix.

Available Capacities / Options

  • Mid (around 300–500 TR) — large commercial buildings, sustained process cooling
  • Large (around 600–1,000 TR) — industrial plant, district cooling support, major facilities
  • Above 1,000 TR — multiple units manifolded, usually with redundancy built into the design
  • With or without tower — the complete package including cooling tower and condenser pumps, or the chiller alone where you already have heat rejection on site

Key Features

  • Markedly lower running cost per ton than an air-cooled equivalent
  • Higher capacity from a smaller footprint
  • Suited to continuous, high-load operation over long hire periods
  • Delivery within 24–48 hours, with 24/7 breakdown support for the length of the hire
  • Stable performance largely independent of outside air temperature
  • Can connect to existing site condenser water and tower infrastructure
  • Supplied with pumps, hoses and manifolds as required
  • Serviced and performance-tested before every hire

Applications

  • Permanent chiller replacement — covering a failed or stripped-out plant in a large building
  • District cooling support — supplementary capacity during peak demand or plant maintenance
  • Industrial process cooling — continuous duty in manufacturing, petrochemical and heavy industry
  • Data centres — high, steady loads where efficiency compounds over time
  • Long-term projects — multi-month hires where running cost outweighs installation effort

Rental Availability in UAE

Rental Power supplies water-cooled chillers for hire across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the wider UAE, including the pumps and connections required to integrate with your condenser water system. This equipment is part of our full chiller rental in UAE fleet, so if a water-cooled configuration isn’t practical on your site, we can propose an air-cooled alternative instead.

Choosing the Right Option

  • Check water availability first — an open cooling tower evaporates water continuously and needs a reliable make-up supply. No water supply means no water-cooled chiller.
  • Check space for the tower — the tower needs its own footprint with clear airflow, and it can’t sit against a wall.
  • Weigh hire duration against install time — below roughly a month at moderate load, an air-cooled chiller usually wins on total cost and disruption.
  • Plan for water treatment — scale and biological control are part of running an open tower, not optional extras.
  • Check the load profile — the efficiency advantage is largest at sustained high load, and shrinks on intermittent duty.

FAQs

When is water-cooled the better choice? Large loads, long hires and sustained high running hours, where a site can supply condenser water and tower space.

Is a cooling tower included? It can be. A water-cooled hire is quoted either as a complete package with tower, condenser pumps and water treatment, or as the chiller alone if your site already has heat rejection. Tell us which you need and we’ll quote accordingly.

How much more efficient is it? At plant level, typically around 0.55–0.85 kW/TR against 1.2–1.5 kW/TR for air-cooled. Actual figures depend on unit, load and conditions.

How long does installation take? Equipment is typically delivered within 24 to 48 hours, but installation takes longer than air-cooled: the chiller, tower, pumps and water circuit all need setting up and commissioning, so plan for days rather than hours on site. We’ll give you a firm schedule once we’ve seen the site and the load.

Can it connect to our existing cooling tower? Often yes, if the tower has spare capacity and the water quality is suitable. Our team will check before quoting.

Planning a large or long-term cooling job? Send us your load, hire period and what condenser water infrastructure you have on site, and we’ll tell you whether water-cooled is the right call — with delivery within 24 to 48 hours once it’s agreed. Call +971 56 921 3754 or request a quote.
